We've Got Your Back.
You depended on your buddies when you served. We've got your back now.
The Veteran to Veteran (V2V) Mentorship program recognizes that returning to civilian life after serving in the military can sometimes be a challenge, both professionally and personally. But you don't have to do it alone.
V2V empowers Veterans to help other Veterans through this time of change by connecting recently returned Veterans in the Traverse City area with more experienced Veteran mentors.
V2V Mentorships are yearlong commitments that help Veterans bridge the gap between successful military service
and their new lives and careers.
The V2V Community is open to Veterans from all branches of the US Armed Forces living in the Grand Traverse Region. Any recently separated Veteran who feels they could use a
Veteran Mentor's assistance can apply.
V2V understands the power of personal relationships. The V2V program was founded by Traverse City area Veterans dedicated to serving fellow Veterans in our community.
Our Veteran Mentors are trained to provide guidance, support, advice and inspiration. To our Veteran mentors, One More mission means that their duty is not over---their service is needed to help their fellow Veterans who are still navigating this period of readjustment to civilian life. Our Mentors take pride in serving their country again by supporting other military families.
It's their mission.
Mentoring Makes a Difference- Mentoring provides long term coaching for individuals determined to reach their potential. Partners are selected and matched for compatibility. Our strengths focused mentoring approach includes:
One on one weekly mentoring meetings- offering guidance, support, insight and friendship
Goal setting with action steps, accountability and celebration of success
Partnerships but often continuing for many years as friendships develop
Family Partnership’s Veteran to Veteran Mentoring seeks to help our clients manage their daily struggles by connecting them with a supportive and experienced partner who understands the kinds of challenges our Veterans may be facing.
Getting involved- One way to get involved is to become a Veteran Mentor. The only qualification is that you are a military veteran. All the training you need is provided by Family Partnership. Monthly Volunteer Support Meetings for our mentors are also available as a resource. Training will provide you with needed insights as well as the team of resources available to you. Simply put, a Veteran Mentor is a trusted confidant spending time with a friend. The pace and activities are set by you and your veteran partner.
Referring or Requesting a Veteran’s Partner- Know of a Veteran who could use a mentor? Let us know and our selection team will arrange to meet and discuss the program in a friendly and casual setting. Matches are made only after the Mentor and the Veteran’s Partner have agreed. Schedules and activities are flexible.
